SmithTech School of Computer Science, Innovation & Design is dedicated to seamlessly integrating computer science into the curriculum through a human-centered design thinking framework. This collaborative initiative between Chesapeake City Public Schools (CPS) and Old Dominion University (ODU) emphasizes the importance of early academic preparation for underrepresented students in the technology talent pipeline.

Old Dominion University’s Center for Educational Innovation and Opportunity is the hub of ODU’s lab school network, manages partnerships with other Virginia lab schools, coordinates research and best practices across Virginia, and provide expert guidance to lab school leaders. The Center fosters a culture of innovation in K-12 and higher education, and develops scalable strategies for educational programs statewide.
